The Art Style

Roy Lichtenstein is one of America’s most famous Pop Art Styled artists. In 1972 his works were selling at the highest prices ever for any living artist Roy Lichtenstein is known for his comic book styled artwork in. In this Comic book period he would use warm colors; Alot of reds, oranges, and yellows are found in these paintings. He also painted many women in his paintings, as well as intense scenes with kissing crying and aircraft explosions such as Drowning Girl, Hopeless, and Crying Girl are all crying. POW, Bam!, and Whaam! are all fighting and explosion paintings. He seemed to never show his brush strokes, he always tried to make it look as comic book as he could with his oil and magna paints. He never really would use still lifes, accept in his abstract phase where he painted Modern and Sunrise.
