The Lichtenstein Way with Shapes

Geometric Shapes are: triangle, square, circle, and rectangle oval, ect. Organic shapes are free formed. Any kind of shape can appear 3-D using value and shading. The edges of the shapes can create lines. Shapes have 2 dimensions: length and width. Roy Lichtenstein was a master at using organic shapes. Most of his paintings include women and men. And with his comic book style he didn’t use geometric shapes to create stick figure people. Roy Lichtenstein use with organic shapes really helped bring out his style. He would use the shapes by the people’s faces to create a shadow. This made his paintings look more cartoon like. In Modern Sun, many geometric shapes are included. There are many rectangles to make a rainbow appear in the sky. Modern Sun is a great painting even though in this particular one he didn’t keep to his usual style. It just shows that Lichtenstein may always use organic, but he can also work great with geometric.
